The college
Sixth Form is the last and a crucial stage in the educational progress of the student — from Preschool through Primary and ultimately to High School. Beyond it lies the greater stage of higher education, and with it the prospect of a better future: one marked by significant advances and rapidly changing systems, demanding unique skills and mindset of students who are to remain relevant, productive and competitive.
Our agenda of Harmonious Development of Future Leaders is given extra meaning and emphasis at the Sixth Form College, as students pursue a programme of carefully selected, planned and implemented academic and extra-curricular benchmarks — set to the highest educational requirements of the best universities and places of higher learning in today's world.
What this means to the graduating student is simply endless possibilities.

The BTEC pathway
In Years 12 and 13, students complete either the Cambridge A Level Certificate or the BTEC International Level 3 Extended Diploma. MGIS offers the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business and IT.
Each unit receives an individual grade, and the overall qualification is awarded as an aggregated final grade.

The BTEC may also be combined with AS and A Levels.

Old Glorians / AlumniGrading
These are different instruments. The termly scale measures progress on school reports through the year; the transcript scale converts final marks into a GPA for university reporting. The same letter sits on different boundaries in each — a B on a termly report and a B on a transcript are not the same measurement.
| Grade | Boundary | Remark |
|---|---|---|
| A+ | 90–100 | Exceptional Mastery |
| A | 80–89 | Strong & Consistent Understanding |
| B | 70–79 | Secure Progress |
| C | 60–69 | Foundational Growth |
| D | 50–59 | Emerging Understanding |
| E | 0–49 | Support Needed for Growth |
| Grade | Range | GPA |
|---|---|---|
| A | 100–80 | 4.0 |
| A- | 79–75 | 3.7 |
| B+ | 74–70 | 3.3 |
| B | 69–65 | 3.0 |
| B- | 64–60 | 2.7 |
| C+ | 59–55 | 2.3 |
| C | 54–50 | 2.0 |
| C- | 49–45 | 1.7 |
| D | 44–40 | 1.3 |
| E | 39–35 | 1.0 |
| F | 34–0 | 0.7 |
Maximum GPA 4.00, unweighted. Minimum passing score 50%. No class ranking. Realistic estimates may be provided where essential for university admission.

Where graduates go
Our graduates go on to a number of prestigious universities — McGill, the University of Toronto, University College London, the London School of Economics, New York University, Boston University, Purdue, IE University, Ashesi and Strathmore among them — across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Switzerland, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, India, the UAE and more. In all, Glorians have taken up places in seventeen countries.
How it works
University awareness, application guidance, and future planning form part of the student support experience. MGIS graduates continue to attend universities around the world.
The goal of university and career counselling at MGIS is to help our students gain access to the opportunities beyond school that will allow them to continue their educational development, find personal accomplishment, and contribute to a more peaceable and sustainable future.
To accomplish this, we work closely with every student and their family to understand their goals, context and strengths — so that they can see, and navigate, the full range of opportunities open to them.
Group sessions
Structured group sessions walk students through the university search process.
Group sessions
Funding matters as much as offers, so group sessions cover financial aid and scholarships in their own right.
One to one
Every student is also counselled individually, in the light of their own goals, context and strengths.
