The topic was; 'The Importance of Reading'.

WELCOME TO THE SECOND TERM IN WHICH EVERYONE IS TO BE A REFORMER!

On behalf of the founders of this great institution, the Headmistress welcomes everyone back to school: teachers, non-teaching staff, continuing students and a special welcome to new students and parents who are joining us this term.

The year’s theme: Towards a Culture of Excellence is the guiding principle for this new term for everybody and everything related to Morning Glory International School. The Reformer sub theme is a strategy towards the main theme. Reformers are known for being agents of ‘good change’, upholders of the virtues of integrity and justice. We are all part of this process of good change and therefore are reminded of it in our sub-theme.

As is characteristic of activities at Morning Glory, this term will be a busy and challenging time. Students in the Upper examination classes: IGCSE and AS/A Level are preparing fervently towards their final Cambridge exams scheduled for May and June this year. The Grade 8 students are preparing for Checkpoint and amidst all this preparations are the usual activities which are unique to the term. Dear February will be coming up soon. There will be further information on this here. This year’s Commonwealth Day will also be celebrated in-house; there is the Founders’ Day and Teacher Appreciation.

It will be an interesting term for learning and growth.

To students preparing for examinations this advice goes to you: as the new term is beginning, ask yourself these questions: what do I Know already in my specific subject area? What do I Want to know in addition to what I already know and in line with the content requirements of the examination? And finally, what should I have learnt by the end of the term as a whole?

Teachers will be doing something similar of an appraisal of knowledge gained and content readiness for the exams throughout the term.

Students should cooperate with teachers and keep to their study times. In moments of preparation such as this, one must discipline him or herself and give maximum time to learning. Project the grades you want to make in the exams and paste the result somewhere in your room where you can see always.

You are all welcome back and have a great and fun filled term.
